There is something about seeing lemons that just makes me happy. I’m not talking about lemons displayed in a grocery store but lemons in a glass jar as a centerpiece, something as simple as that is lovely. You don’t need to be Martha Stewart to have an elaborate centerpiece when you have lemons or clementines in a beautiful, artistic bowl. I tend to like blue bowls and one color fruit. Lemons or clementines against blue napkins or in a dish is a lovely combination; it’s simple, it’s happy and so cheap. It doesn’t take much to make me happy.

When we lived in California we had a lemon tree…that’s a big thing I miss about living there…citrus season. We’d walk the streets and they were lined with lemons, oranges, grapefruit, and limes. We also had a key lime tree, and very small orange tree that only produced 2 or 3 oranges a year.
But the lemons, they were very plentiful…I had them all over the house, and made lemonade all the time. It was delightful.
I was so sad when we moved back here and noticed the price of lemons. No more homemade lemonade every day for months. and No more having a house filled with the natural essence of lemons.
Oh yes, I miss my lemon tree.
a happy memory, thank you.

we went to visit a friend of my husband there and I was “ripe” with envy over Her fruit trees. That’s where I need to be! let’s both move there…..

I do miss the desert in the winter, but not the summer! Whew it was brutal. (we lived in Palm Springs.)
Now since hubby can work virtually from anywhere, we are thinking of spending our winters in Tucson, AZ. Possibly moving..we’ll see. But Stuart’s dad just got married, so his house is not being used much (he does still work out of it, but that’s it) So we’d have a place to live.
And family there, and friends…only draw back. Stuart grew up in the desert and is tired of it. He likes the trees here. The huge old hard woods. All the green. I love the desert…all the vast openness! The temperate climate. A whole new world to me. All these trees just make me sneeze. : )
But hubby doesn’t like the cold, so I’m thinking I can get him there for at least the winters. : )

I have a love for all the things you mentioned: simple produce like lemons, limes, or clementines, glass jars, and blue! Just reading this made me happy! Thanks for some great ideas to spruce up the decor during these dreary winter days!
