“North West?” Just Hear Me Groan… (Pop Cop)

Well, now I’ve heard it all, yup, that’s right. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West named their brand new baby girl: wait for it: NORTH. Her name is

NORTH WEST. Let me guess, if little North West gets married she can only get married to a guy or a gal  (Yay) whose last name is AIRLINES, ba da ding!  Out of all names possible this is the one that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West came up with. Seriously?  I think the nickname that they picked “Nori” is adorable. Why not just NAME the kid “Nori” and make life simpler for everyone, including your daughter. You know, of course, that North is going to change her name, for sure, once she is of legal age and who can blame her? I swear, I hope she picks something old-fashioned just to annoy her parents, how about Ruth or Elizabeth, Bertha or Helen.

Is anyone else getting sick of these so-called “sell-ebreties” naming their kids all these weird ass kinds of names for attention to be “unique aka weird.”I think Apple was the first piece of fruit to be named and we thought that was outrageous back then. Oh Gwynnie, you old trend setter, you.

Besides, maybe it’s just me but I don’t consider Kim Kardashian a celebrity. Meryl Streep, yes, Kim Kardashian, so not. That’s like comparing Honey BooBoo to Shirley Temple, the child star of my youth. The whole family should leave television and work for a box chain store, maybe Wal-Mart or K-mart without the benefit of hair and make-up, wearing sneakers, not stilettos and roomy uniforms not dresses that are 6 sizes too small for them.

My goodness, Mom Kardashian,I mean Jenner, whatever, go home and start counting your face/body lifts or work for the poor, do something good for the world, hide and do volunteer work. Now you are going to have your own television show? Gosh I am so shocked! (Not) Here’s one viewer that will not tune in. But, then again, I’ve never watched one episode of any Kardashian show. It makes me want to gag. Rumor has it that North West will make an appearance on your show, WOW, what a ratings booster. Want to make a bet it’s going to be on Day One?!

The only Kardashian I think I like is the married Kardashian (I googled-her name, Khloe) who is trying to have a baby (allegedly) and I feel bad for her if it is true. I too, went through infertility for two and a half years and it’s excruciatingly painful both physically and emotionally. Especially when you have two sisters who have children already. Trust me, I know. In the middle of my infertility struggles, my sister had me lie down next to her and go over names she liked for her second child. It was so NOT cool. I just remember trying to keep my act together until we left and then bursting into tears when I saw my mom. She understood.

Well, Nori, you have a cute little nickname, please use it as often as possible. When you start school, nursery school, pre-school make sure they call you Nori. I know I’m getting a little ahead of myself, but all those SAT forms, driver’s ed forms, etc. when they want the LAST NAME FIRST: West, FIRST NAME: NORTH. Wow, just wow. Good luck, sweetheart.

p.s. if you happen to have a sibling…will it be South or East? We’re taking bets already. but, we may not have to worry about that quite yet. It’s Hollywood. Things change…rapidly.

The Golden Globes Are On But More Importantly I Hated My Dinner

LIVE FROM SUNDAY NIGHT GOLDEN GLOBES:

Sunday nights have always been legendary in my house and even in the apartment where I grew up; we HAD to like our dinner, it was imperative. It was that unwelcome bridge from the weekend to school or work or just Monday. It seems that even if you don’t work, Monday is still bad, that never changes. Maybe they should just call it Sunday Plus, would that work to ease us into the new week? Oh, fine, probably not but I’m trying here people, just work with me.

I feel that I need to have The Golden Globes on for “My Peeps” those of you who follow my blog, those that love celebrities or television and gossip. Those of us who watch The Golden Globes to see the witty banter between Tina Fey and Amy Poehler (so worth it.) These two women are just hilarious and besides someone might trip up the stairs or make a delicious, outrageous speech. Wouldn’t want to miss anything out of the ordinary (aka live bloopers, mistakes, a temper tantrum, please, the audience loves the stuff!)

OMG, President Bill Clinton just walked out on the stage, gave a speech and got a standing ovation and I am so NOT making this up. This man lives for the spotlight and the spotlight just adores him. What a magical moment. Then, a young whippersnapper in a pretty orange dress won instead of Meryl Streep and she actually went on stage and SAID, actually SAID OUT LOUD something to the effect of (and I’m paraphrasing: Whose name is on this, NOT Meryl Streep’s  name.) No, she couldn’t have. Could she? That girl needs some manners, pronto. Forgive me for prejudging but I don’t like this kid. There was a lovely salute to Sally Fields by Ann Hathaway and Jodie Foster was wonderful in her heartfelt speech accepting her Cecil B.DeMilleAward; a woman with class. However, we don’t care if you are gay, we knew you were gay, we just want to know if you will continue to make movies? That and how could Mel Gibson be your BFF? I mean, EWW.

Sorry, I was so distracted by as (he was called )Mr. Hillary Rodham Clinton (ha ha ha) back to the dinner. Everyone who knows me and those read my blog faithfully know I also love food and yes, I do have some strange food combinations.( I am NOT going to mention them tonight because my friend Maureen sent me Hostess orange cupcakes and I owe her big time) Tonight’s dinner was a massive mistake. Hubby and I shared a lovely pear and mesclun salad that came with goat cheese, walnuts, slices of pear and raisins and a few walnuts. It came with balsamic vinegar on the side and it was light, healthy and it was wonderful. Now for the bad news: hubby ordered mussels fra diablo and his forehand was sweating but happy; I ordered (ok, ok) spinach lasagna with a white sauce. I’ll leave you a minute to digest the thought….It sounded good, I’ve had that before but unfortunately, it was one gloppy mess of spinach and even more gloppy cheese with oil. Horrible looking and tasting. It was bad enough that I could have sent it back but I didn’t. I just conceded that Danny won (I’m not a good sore loser) finished my Diet Coke and we went home. Home to fried, carmelized bananas and one slice, okay, two thick slices of Dan’s blueberry cinnamon-poppy seed loaf with a hint of butter. How could I not like my Sunday dinner now?

Pop Cop: Heidi Montag –Repost

Heidi WHO?   There has been a lot of media attention about some actress named Heidi and I have no idea why. Her name and tons of photos of her have been shown relentlessly on TV and articles have been written about her in all the gossip rags. Why? Supposedly, this  TV” star”( and I use that term VERY loosely) recently had ten cosmetic surgical procedures done in one day. She’s getting all this media attention for THAT? Now, won’t that certainly assure her of getting her a star on Hollywood Boulevard…..? Not.

Frankly, I don’t give a crap about Heidi Montag and all her surgeries.  The only people who SHOULD be concerned and involved are her mother, husband, best friend and the psychiatrist she apparently really needs to meet.   I could care less whether Heidi Montag or Jane Fame have ten surgeries in a day,  let them have 20 procedures for all I care. Can’t we just keep it under wraps and not give her this shameful publicity?  In my opinion, I think she needs serious psychiatric help instead of  fame.  I read that she was/is on a tv show with some dude, Spencer Pratt. From what I have read, I thinks she is married to him but there’s a bit of controversy regarding that.  Incredible Hall of Fame. Fabulous resume too.

Heidi,  you famous thing. Apparently you are an actress so why don’t we  just put you in the same category of say, the invincible Meryl Streep while we are at it? The difference? Meryl Streep deserves to be famous; Meryl Streep is an unbelievable actress and a true star. A woman I would be honored to meet, an icon.   Heidi -Who, in my opinion should get help for her mind, not her body. Does anyone else hear the word Dysmorphic syndrome?  And, why, why, when girls are just getting exposed (finally) to full-figured models and “real” women are we showcasing this person?  Think, people, think. Do you think it’s a good message?  Right. NO, it isn’t. I’m all for freedom of speech but really?    TMZ,  I actually really like you but come on, even you?

Heidi, and I quote, says that “she feels like plastic”and basically, she is plastic, from top to bottom and ten times over.   She says she is not addicted to plastic surgery, umm, ok if you say so but I beg to differ. If you want to emulate Barbie, fine. Barbie is a GOOD role model compared to you. She has different types of careers and areas of expertise. She can be a veterinarian or a pilot, or a brain surgeon, a mom or an Olympic gold medalist.

Heidi-Who on the other hand? I’ve got it.  She will be a contender for the silver medal in the Nip/Tuck category of the Olympics. For representing a really bad role model to others,  and a disturbing image of herself.
